DAILY VERSE: And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose, and went to David into the wood and strengthened his hand in God - 1 Samuel 23:16
---------------------------------------------------
DAILY QUOTE: In prosperity, our friends know us, but in adversity we know our friends. Friends are the ones who come to us when we are 'in the woods'.
------------------------------------------------
STORY OF THE DAY: The first black American to play Major League Baseball was Jackie Robinson. He faced insults and abuse in every stadium while trying to break through baseball's color barrier. One day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, New York, he committed an error, and immediately the fans turned on him. While they jeered, he just stood there at second base, humiliated.

Suddenly, shortstop Pee Wee Reese ran over, stood next to him, put his arm around him, and together they faced the crowd. Within seconds the fans grew quiet. Years later, when Robinson was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame, he said, "It was Reese's arm around my shoulder that day that saved my career and brought me to this moment!"

Jesus told Peter, "when you are converted, strengthen your brethren" (Luke 22:32). If God has truly lifted you, you will always reach back for others! It will be as natural to you as breathing. Are you a friend like that? If you think you will ever need one - BE one.
---------------------------------------------
I cannot tell you how many people I stand with who need encouraging. I put my arm around them, comfort them and together we face the crowd. I have one special friend who is in the tournament and when she was in the ‘woods’ I was there. I took on her burdens on my shoulders and cried out to God with and for her. I am still in the ‘woods’ looking for others. This is the hardest part of me being a Pastor. – Pastor Bob Kraft
