Love to Serve News September 1, 2000

The Bible reminds us.
"Where there is no vision the people perish." (Proverbs. 29:18)

God told the prophet, Habakkuk to write down the vision plainly.
"So that they who read it will run with it" (Habakkuk 2:2)

I think of missionary to Africa, Dr. Albert Schweitzer, who with an advanced medical education, gave up so much in Europe to give so much with health care to the people of early 19th century Africa.  I think of USA's civil rights leader, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., who willingly laid down his very life to lead those to whom he gave his love, a unique example of the power of servant leadership.  I think of India's Mother Teresa, reaching the sick and dying in Calcutta, with her vision for which she sacrificed so much with such joy that she captured the hearts of the world.  And I think of USA's Joni Eareckson Tada, disabled from the neck down after a swimming accident using the power of her vision to enable handicapped people to realize how much they have to give.

Paul, a apostle of Jesus, wrote:
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?  And how can then believe in the one of whom they have not heard?  And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  And how can they preach unless they are sent?"

In 2001 and beyond our ministry vision emcompasses mobilzing all the resources we have in the tennis world to give to lend ours God given talents to the developing world known as the 10/40 window. The majority of the unreached people in our world are situated in a rectangle found between the latitudes 10 and 40 degrees north of the equator.  This makes up one third of the habitable regions of the world.  However, two thirds of the world's population lives there, often in misery, hunger, sickness or under repressive political regimes.
