Sample Daily Verse: US Open August 27, 2004
US OPEN MINISTRY: My first day on site at the US Open. This morning
I prepared materials in various languages that will be given to players.
This
includes Christian books, Bibles, and music CDs in Russian, Spanish,
English, and German. Thank you to Catalina for the credential.
God will bless you for
supporting the ministry that reaches out to you, as I know He is already
doing. In the afternoon, I spoke to a lot of players and coaches
that I have built up
relationships with. Went to bed at 7pm from the jeg lag from
Hong Kong to New York and took phone calls from 10pm until midnight.
Worked on this message afterwards- Rev. Bob

DAILY VERSE: "So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step
. . . " 1 Corinthians 9:26
----------------------------------------------
QUOTE OF THE DAY: Never let your head hang down, never sit and grieve;
find another way. And do not pray when it rains if you do not pray
when the sun shines.
--------------------------------
STORY OF THE DAY: Whether you are in the world of sport or in the Kingdom
of God, every winner has these qualities - study them carefully.
1. Self-analysis - A winner is honest about his strengths and
weaknesses. Listen, "The Lord searches every heart . . . If you seek
Him, He will be found by
you.” (I Chronicles 28:9) In God's presence, you will see
yourself as you are, then as you can be.
2. Focus - Champions live 'in the present.’ They refuse
to let their body be one place while their mind is another. People
who live 'waiting for their ship
to come in,' get disappointed or die on the pier. Live where you are
today, that is where God is!
3. Confidence - Winners conquer anxiety by keeping their eyes
on the goal. As they reach each goal, their confidence increases.
Jude says, "But you dear
friends, build yourselves up.” (Jude 20) That is something
you must do daily and only through prayer and the Word of God.
4. Toughness - Champions give up the present, for the future.
They say 'no' to indulgence and 'yes' to discipline, because the prize
is worth the sacrifice.
Paul says, "Like an athlete I punish my body treating it roughly, training
it to do what it should, not what it wants to . . . " (1 Corinthians 9:27)
5. Having a game plan - Champions know that talent's not enough,
you have to have a plan and live by it. (Psalms 143:10) Have you
found God's plan for your
life yet? Are you living by it? Talk to Him about it -
for it is the most important conversation you will have today.
